I’ll call it Steve. Her Steve somehow convinces her that her divorce is a monumentally important event, that even long-passed figures like Abraham Lincoln would sign her divorce petition. Obviously her husband (an ambassador for the Canadian government IIRC?) has a bone or two to pick with her, but while in India, Gilbert’s Steve convinces her that her immortal soul and his immortal soul have actually already made peace on a higher level of existence than she could ever comprehend, and that therefore she needn’t concern herself with her husband hating her (which she didn’t understand and thought was a terrible, terrible thing). Yes, her Steve is so powerful it assigns emotions to her husband’s permanent transcendent soul, so as to alleviate her of any guilt. At many points throughout the book, she describes the various thought of her Steve, which she interprets as rumintations from her inner soul. Gilbert also really struggles with powerful slut tendencies. The book actually begins with her in Italy, “studying,” and begging for her tutor to kiss her. Silently. She was passively rejected, you see. You later find out that she has only recently broken up with “David,” the man she immediately fell into bed with post-divorce (during divorce, actually). Apparently any longer than a week without a man’s attention represents a Normandy-esque effort for our protoganist. Admittedly, she realizes this is a design flaw, which she describes as “falling into a man,” which prevents her from “finding herself.” I would describe it as “yousa sloooootttttt” A year of celibacy proves impossible, and she eventually finds herself spending several days in the bed of a Brazillian man while in Bali. https://canadian-states.startentree.nl/ https://canadian-states.brabantmotorverhuur.nl/ https://canadian-states.hetmooistedorp.be/ https://canadian-states.jobcenters.nl/ https://canadian-states.sexybegin.be/ https://canadian-states.champion.be/ https://canadian-states.denieuwezorgverzekering.nl/ https://canadian-states.hoeverandertmijnzorg.nl/
