The thrust of it is that certain groups have “protected status” and virtually any complaint involving a member of one of these groups must be fully documented and investigated. An unintended consequence is that professors will make themselves less available before and after class out of fear that they will be told something that they then have to handle. Re: backfiring. I cannot attempt to speak for the entire SMP and believe that aggregation at that level is so full of noise as to be largely meaningless, but I will offer a couple of observations about how men in my social circle are behaving. 1. Sexless marriages. The very worst ambassadors for marriage are frequently these ostensibly “happily married” men. What strikes me is not that the men are complaining about clinically sexless marriages and about libido differentials, but *that they are perfectly content with these arrangements.* These are guys in their late 30s and 40s in most cases and for whatever reason they have little interest in having sex with their wives. One friend recently told me that he “was so horny the other day he actually fucked his wife.” I didn’t know what to say. My guess is that after the honeymoon period wears off these guys are fapping away to porn. 2. Among the single guy crowd, I increasingly hear of a policy that goes something like this: 2A) no marriage, no co-hab 2B) kids are negotiable but only via an a priori “co-parenting agreement” term sheet.
